An Ultrasonic Distance Sensor is a technical component able to measure the distance between the viewer and an object. Distance sensors work using light, infrared radiation, radio waves, or ultrasound and use different measurement methods. Sound spreads as a wave. An echo is reflected to the source of the ultrasound saves, and is then received and evaluated as a signal. The difference between the time the signal was sent and when it was received indicates the distance between an obstacle and the sensor. The sensor’s range is up to 4 m. The output numerical value corresponds to the distance in centimeters.
