Topic

Vehicle design, evaluating the encoder to determine speed, driving cost calculation and parallel processes (threads).

Time required

Students will build the autonomous vehicle using the building instructions. Depending on the students’ level of experience with fischertechnik, they will need one to two hours of instruction (45-90 minutes) to do so.
Students will need one to two hours of instruction (45-90 minutes) to develop the programs needed to solve the programming tasks. They may need assistance in converting the encoder impulses.
Experienced students can add a taximeter in the experimental task. Solving this experimental task is not required for understanding subsequent tasks.
