Didactic material accompanying the product Class Set Gears

Lesson plans, tasks and solutions in English and Portuguese

Editable format of the accompanying didactic material

Our provided teaching material can be used directly in the classroom. Nevertheless, many teachers have the need to individualize the tasks and solutions in order to suit the particular application in the best possible way. The task and solution sheets are therefore deliberately provided in Word format. This allows you to customize and modify them as you wish before you start printing.

Structure according to topics

Our lesson plans are structured according to different sub-areas on the topic of transmission. This allows you to respond specifically to requirements and teach exactly those topics which you consider to be target-oriented or which are specified to you.
The fischertechnik Class Set Gears can be used to fulfill all the lesson plans provided.

Below you will find the learning objectives and the lesson plans for the various topics.

Learning goals

Understanding gearing mechanisms for changing direction of rotation
Understanding how to calculate gearing mechanisms that change the movement speed (accelerate or decelerate)
Constructing gearing mechanisms to change the type of movement

Topic

Gear for changing the direction of movement, changing the location and speed. Finally, we will be looking at two important gearing mechanisms that change the type of movement.

Time required

Building each of the gearing mechanisms should not take more than 10-15 minutes. Then, the results should be briefly evaluated and discussed (5 minutes). The total time for all six tasks is estimated to be two school periods (2 x 45 minutes); the time required to explain the background information on gears (definition, function, history) that can be mixed with the tasks is estimated to be another school period.
